YOGA AS BODY PRAYER
Friday, March 9, 2007
6:30 - 9:30 pm
at the: New York Open Center
83 Spring Street, NYC
Members $30/Nonmembers $35
Many of us have experienced the physical and psychological benefits of hatha yoga. This evening I invite you to delve more deeply into the spiritual essence
of yoga…
Through the postures we will learn how to use our body as a vehicle, a gateway to the divine spirit within us by combining sound, imagery, breath, inspirational teachings and chanting with our asanas; we will explore the deeper meaning of our postures --- the prayerful opening of backbends, the profound surrender of forward bending asanas and the calling of spirit inherent in the conscious ‘inspiration’ of breath.
When approaching your practice with this heartfelt depth, the movements of hatha yoga become like a sacred body prayer.
This workshop provides an opportunity to take your practice to a deeper level and to learn to use this exquisite discipline as the spiritual path it was designed to be.
(Although this workshop will involve non-strenuous postures, some yoga experience is required.)
